How to import contacts on to your new iPhone
Got a new iPhone? If you were previously using an iPhone then transferring your contacts couldn’t be simpler using Apple’s iCloud online sync service.
If your old handset has been set up to use iCloud, then using the same Apple ID on your new handset will bring your contacts, calendar and other data straight across to your new iPhone, without the need for any further action.
If you don’t have iCloud set up on your old iPhone, then that’s the first thing that you will need to do. Your old iPhone will need to have a working SIM card in it, or it will need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network, so that the data can be copied from your handset into iCloud. To set up iCloud on your old iPhone:
1. Find and tap on the Settings icon.
2. Scroll down and tap on iCloud.
3. If you see your address in the top line that means you’re signed into iCloud on your old iPhone. If not, sign in with the same Apple ID that you have used on your new iPhone.
4. Turn Contacts on.
5. Select the option to merge your Data with iCloud. This will upload all of your contacts onto the iCloud.
If you have already completed the initial setup wizard on your new iPhone, you can turn on iCloud services following the exact instructions listed above. Once you’re signed in to iCloud your contacts will start to download to your new iPhone instantly.
Once you have backed up your old iPhone to the iCloud service, all you need to do is choose the option to use iCloud during the initial setup of your new iPhone and your contacts will automatically appear on the handset.
