Apple launch the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro & iPhone 12 Pro Max...
What more could you want? 5G, A14 Bionic chip, a ceramic shield, LiDAR scanner, a Pro camera system optimised for low light & much more...
On the 13th October, Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook took to the stage at an empty Apple Park HQ to showcase the newest iPhone, amongst other Apple products.
The iPhone 12 series is the first of the Apple portfolio to work on faster 5G networks, much later than its competitors. A calculated move by Apple, choosing to hold off on introducing a 5G device with Tim Cook previously stating earlier this year…
“With respect to 5G, I think we’re in the early innings of deployment on a global basis.”
Fast forward several months, Apple are now unveiling a 5G device of their own…
“5G will bring a new level of performance for downloads and uploads, higher quality video streaming, more responsive gaming, real-time interactivity and so much more,” said Tim Cook.
This time around, the new iPhone 12 has had a cosmetic refresh paying homage to the iPhone 5 with sharp, flat edges offering a bigger screen and new sensor to help with low-light photography.
The iPhone 12 has the same 6.1in sized screen as its predecessor, but this time around it is 11% thinner with smaller bezels and OLED technology for richer colours.
The screen is also higher resolution and uses a ceramic shield to protect its display to offer “four times better drop performance“.
A new A14 Bionic chip – the only one in the industry built on a five nanometre process – is being used to carry out more advanced enhancements to battery life and photo quality.
Delivering night-mode selfies without using the flash, as well a wide camera letting in 27% more light, for greater detail and sharper focus day or night.
Despite all the new features the iPhone 12 series brings, this is the first time none of the devices will include earphones or a charger! Considering the hefty price tag, this seems like a let down for Apple users. However, Apple state that this is purely down to environmental reasons.
With this news, Apple has revived its MagSafe charging brand, previously phased out of the MacBook line. Including a new set of smartphone-centric accessories such as cases, covers, wallets and wireless chargers.
