The Cloud is still misunderstood, in part because of bad advice & poor implementation that is all too prevalent. We hear many reasons why people & businesses still shy away from the Cloud and most of them just aren’t true any more. Here are some of the main myths we hear about, debunked.

Myth#1: “Cloud telephony is expensive”

Provided ‘as a service’ Cloud telephony allows flexibility to only use what you need, when you need, rather than spending large amounts of cash on depreciating hardware. Additionally call charges are generally cheaper – if not free – through Cloud telephony providers.

Myth#2: “Cloud telephony is for larger organisations”

Not true. Cloud telephony is scalable to any size of business and allows even the smallest company to take benefits from enterprise level features that would ordinarily be out of reach with a traditional phone system.

Myth#3: “My internet connection is not good enough to run Cloud telephony systems as well”

Although this may be true for certain companies you would be pleasantly surprised about just how little bandwidth you do need to run a Cloud telephony system. And if your current connection is not up to scratch, we can help with that.

Myth#4: “Cloud telephony systems are unreliable”

This is a hangover from the early days of Cloud telephony that is just no longer true. Most service providers have a system uptime of 99.9% and much faster SLA response times than traditional providers. As well as this Cloud platforms natively give you back-up & failover options that are out of reach on traditional phone systems.

Myth#5: “Cloud telephony is difficult to set-up and configure”

Wrong. Cloud telephony systems are designed to be used by almost anybody. After we have helped to migrate you across to the Cloud you will be able to pass on administrative duties within your organisation. Gone are the days of expensive maintenance contracts where only a privileged few know how to use the system.

As with a lot of Cloud services there are still too many incorrect perceptions of Cloud telephony. Unlike other services Cloud telephony has matured at a faster rate and it is no longer a case of ‘IF’ it is right for you, but ‘HOW’ it is right for you.
