5G networks are expected to launch across the world by 2020
EE announce the first live 5G trial site, Canary Wharf London.
This site has over 150,000 people, 37 office blocks and over 300 shops. The trial being showcased in an exhibition spaces outside Canary Wharf tube station will be the testing of the 5G spectrum, and device performance for speeds and coverage.
5G is up to 10 times faster than 4G and can process data in real time. This means that customers will get the capacity and reliability of the faster wired broadband network available through mobile.
5G will help power a huge rise in Internet of Things technology, providing the infrastructure needed to carry huge amounts of data, allowing for a smarter and more connected world.
With development well underway, 5G networks are expected to launch across the world by 2020, working alongside existing 3G and 4G technology to provide speedier connections that stay online no matter where you are. EE are proud to be one of the first to trailblaze this.
